Home Windmills

Note: All my Home Windmills posts written in this blog are based on my experience making my own Home Windmill (Windmill Power) through the step-by-step manual Book and Videos from Earth4Energy.

Home Windmills are devices to get Windmill Power and transform it on a power generator (electrical energy) for your house. As we all know we are on an energy crisis and the prices are tending only to increase by the time, so we have to look at an alternative energy, such as renewable energy. When we think about green energy we have Wind Power and Solar Power.

Moving to this kind of green energy you are getting the following advantages:

  • Uses renewable energy to generate electricity, which is not a finite supply and we can profit it forever and absolutely free;
  • Helping to protect the world of environmental damages because you are not emitting anything armful to it;
  • Store energy on batteries for later use;
  • No more worries of the electric companies increase the prices;
  • Saving a lot of dollars in electricity bills, that is the best part.

Normally, Residential Windmills have the following main components:

  • The Tower: is the structure that will support our Home Windmills.
  • The Windmill Blades: they transform the Wind Energy into Kinetic Energy through the turning of the blades by the wind power.
  • The Shaft: windmill blades are connected to the shaft that make it turns and convert the movement of the blades into a mechanical energy, which is transferred to the generator.
  • The Generator: it works based on the principle of electromagnetic induction to create the home electricity, when the magnets are rotate by the shaft around a conductor and then they act like a power generator.

Follow bellow a schematic picture exploded in details of it:

How Home Windmills generates the Windmill Power?

Basically when the air achieve a minimum speed (see it in my other post), it makes the windmill blades run which is going to rotate the motor converting it on a mechanical work and finally producing home electricity.

You can store that home made energy on batteries or instantly use it. As the wind will not last the all day it is better store energy in batteries and use when you need.
